Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has reached a landmark settlement with News Group Newspapers (NGN), the publisher of The Sun and the now-defunct News of the World. The agreement includes an eight-figure financial award and a “full and unequivocal apology” from NGN for serious intrusions into Prince Harry’s private life and that of his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

This settlement concludes a protracted legal battle initiated by Prince Harry over five years ago, during which NGN acknowledged unlawful activities such as phone hacking and surveillance between 1996 and 2011.
